Listen, I know I live on a tropical island, but can somebody please explain why that should stop me from decorating for fall? ๐Ÿ˜‚ Because last time I checked, pumpkins donโ€™t require a temperature drop to look cute in your living room.

If youโ€™ve been here for a while, you already know I love changing up my space. Give me an opportunity to move things around, switch out some decor, or make a room look a little different, and Iโ€™m probably going to take it. Do I need a reason? Not really. Sometimes I just want to look at something different when I walk into a room. Is that a crime? I think not.

This year, I decided to give my living room a little fall refresh. Nothing too extravagant, no massive shopping spree, and definitely no dramatic home makeover that required me to move every piece of furniture I own. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I simply pulled out decorations I already had, put a few things together, and let the magic happen.

And honestly? I think it made a bigger difference than I expected.

A Little Fall Decor, A Little Bit of Happiness

Life has been coming at me so fast – and when I say that, I mean there has been a little bit of everything going on. Iโ€™m not going to sit here and pretend everything has been sunshine and rainbows, because that would be a lie. But through it all, God has been by my side, and Iโ€™m grateful for that.

Sometimes, you need little things to look forward to. For me, changing up my space is one of those things.

Thereโ€™s something about making your surroundings feel nice, that does something for your mood. It doesnโ€™t magically make all your problems disappear (I wish ๐Ÿฅด), but it gives you something enjoyable to focus on. For a little while, I could put my attention on something creative, make my living room look pretty, and enjoy the results.

And thatโ€™s exactly what I did.

I only decorated the living room this year, but even with the few pieces I added, the space felt different. It was a small change, but one that brought me a little peace and happiness.

My Girly Fall Decor Color Scheme ๐ŸŽ€๐Ÿ

Now, if youโ€™re expecting the traditional fall color scheme of burnt orange, deep reds, dark browns, and all the other colors that scream AUTUMN, wellโ€ฆ I have some news for you.

Weโ€™re do things differently over here. ๐Ÿ˜‚

My color scheme was pink, orange, nude, and gold. Very girly, very much my vibe, and absolutely no apologies will be issued.

I love that the colors give the room a little autumn warmth without taking away from the pink accents I already enjoy. The orange and tiny pumpkins bring in that familiar fall feeling, the nude and cream tones keep everything cozy, and the gold adds a little something extra.

Because apparently, even my pumpkins need to participate in the aesthetic.

The best part is that I didnโ€™t have to buy a whole new collection of decorations to make the colors work together. I already owned pieces that fit the look I wanted, so I just had to bring them back out and get creative.

Shopping My Own Stash Because Weโ€™re Not Doing Too Much This Year ๐Ÿ˜‚

One thing about me: if I already own something that can work for what Iโ€™m trying to do, Iโ€™m going to see if I can use it before spending money on something new.

And that is precisely what happened with this yearโ€™s fall decor.

I pulled out pieces from previous holidays and found ways to give them another life. Some of these decorations have been through Christmas, Valentineโ€™s Day, and Halloween, and now theyโ€™re back for another appearance. At this point, theyโ€™re probably more well-traveled than I am. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

The Halloween Pumpkins Made Their Return

Letโ€™s start with the obvious: the pumpkins.

These came from Halloween last year, so naturally, they were invited back for fall. I arranged the little pumpkins around my living room, including on the coffee table and TV stand, and they added just the right amount of orange to the space.

I love the fact that something so small can make a difference. You donโ€™t need enormous decorative pumpkins taking over your entire living room to get the point across. A few mini pumpkins placed here and there can do the job just fine.

Christmas Cushion Covers, But Make It Fall

Remember when I mentioned that I used this same color scheme for Christmas in 2023? Well, those cushion covers came back out to play!

I already had the pink, orange, and cream patterned covers, so they fit right into my fall decor without me having to do anything extra. I paired them with my blush pink cushion, and suddenly, the sofas had a little more personality.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite ways to change up a room. Sometimes you donโ€™t need new furniture or an entirely different setup. Switching out cushion covers or adding a throw can make the space feel refreshed without turning the whole thing upside down.

Plus, because I already owned everything, I got to enjoy the new look without adding another shopping trip to my to-do list.

We love that for us. Besides, whereโ€™s the money coming from anyway? ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Valentineโ€™s Day Cheesecloth Found Its New Calling

Now, this might be one of my favorite little details.

That pink cheesecloth draped over my coffee table? I originally bought it for Valentineโ€™s Day.

YES, VALENTINEโ€™S DAY. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’—

And look at it now, living its best autumn life!

I used it as a table runner and placed my gold vase and mini pumpkins on top. The pink added a pop of color against the dark wood of the table, while the pumpkins brought in the orange tones. It was such a simple combination, but I really liked how everything came together.

This is exactly why I donโ€™t like to get rid of decorations just because a particular holiday is over. Sometimes, all an item needs is a different setting to make it work for another occasion.

That pink cheesecloth had no idea it was going to have a second career in fall decor, but here we are. ๐Ÿ˜‚

DIY Wall Art Because I Can Print Things, Too!

Letโ€™s talk about the wall decor.

I printed my own wall art, and I love how it adds to the overall look. It gives the space another little seasonal touch without requiring me to buy new prints specifically for fall. I literally just went on Pinterest, grabbed my favorite prints and called it a day.

I also incorporated some warm fairy lights, which add a cozy glow to the wall. Those too were repurposed from Christmas. Sooo, paired with the gold mirror and the artwork, the area feels a little more decorated.

Now, let me tell you something. I procrastinated on changing the wall decor for a while. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I had already done pretty much everything else, but apparently, switching out the wall art was a task that needed to be postponed several times before I finally got around to it.

Why? I couldnโ€™t tell you.

I was clearly capable of decorating the rest of the room, but the wall decor had me acting like I was preparing for a major renovation. Please make it make sense.

Anyway, I eventually got it done, and Iโ€™m glad I did because it helped bring everything together.

The Little Details That Made a Big Difference

Another little area I decorated was my TV stand.

I added a few mini pumpkins and my โ€œHey There Pumpkinโ€ sign. Nothing complicated, nothing that required a tutorial, and nothing that had me questioning my life choices halfway through the process.

Just a few little touches that made the space feel more seasonal.

I also love how the rest of the living room works with the decor. The neutral blankets, cream tones, and existing furniture provide a pretty cozy backdrop for the brighter colors. The pink accents stand out, the gold details add warmth, and the pumpkins bring everything back to fall.

Itโ€™s a nice balance between my usual girly aesthetic and the seasonal look I wanted.

And yes, my television was also participating in the fall festivities. I put on a pink autumn fireplace scene, because apparently, weโ€™re committed to the theme around here. ๐Ÿ˜‚

If Iโ€™m going to decorate for fall, I might as well make the TV match.

Decorating for Fall When You Live on a Tropical Island ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ‚

I know some people associate fall with chilly weather, crunchy leaves, oversized sweaters, and all the other things that come with autumn in places that actually experience the season.

Meanwhile, Iโ€™m here on a tropical island, where the weather has one default setting ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

But honestly, I donโ€™t think you need to experience a particular season firsthand to enjoy decorating for it. I can appreciate the colors, the cozy aesthetic, and the opportunity to change up my home without needing the temperature to cooperate.

Do I get the full autumn experience of watching leaves change color outside my window? No.

Do I get to decorate my living room with tiny pumpkins and pink accents? ABSOLUTELY.

And that is good enough for me. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I enjoy decorating because it gives me a chance to be creative and make my space feel more like me. Whether itโ€™s fall, Christmas, Valentineโ€™s Day, or any other occasion, Iโ€™ll happily find an excuse to switch things up.

Besides, if I waited for the weather to tell me when I could decorate, I might be waiting a very long time.

Would I Do It Again? Absolutely.

Looking at my finished living room, Iโ€™m happy with how everything turned out. I didnโ€™t buy a bunch of new decorations, I didnโ€™t completely transform the room, and I didnโ€™t spend days trying to get everything perfect.

I used what I had, printed my own wall art, brought back a few old favorites, and created a space that made me happy.

And that was the whole point.

I think sometimes we get caught up in the idea that making our homes look nice requires a lot of money, a lot of new things, or a complete makeover. But this little fall refresh reminded me that you can make a noticeable difference with what you already own.

You might have cushion covers tucked away from Christmas, a few pumpkins from Halloween, or decorative pieces you bought for another occasion. Before you go shopping for something new, take a look at what you already have. You might be surprised by what you can put together.

As for me, Iโ€™ll be enjoying my girly fall living room for as long as I feel like it. And when itโ€™s time for the next decorating opportunity, you already know Iโ€™ll be switching things up again. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’—

Because if thereโ€™s one thing about me, itโ€™s that Iโ€™m going to decorate my space whenever the mood strikes.

Island girl or not, weโ€™re celebrating the seasons in style over here.

Until the next scribble! ๐ŸŽ€
