You know what I needed?
Proper lighting. 😭
Soooo, I recently got three new sources of light and I’m gonna do a little unboxing because apparently I’m officially in my content creator who actually cares about lighting era. 😂
As you guys know, I started making YouTube videos a few months ago, and up until now, the most I’ve really had to work with was camera equipment. Lighting? Yeah… not so much.
I either used natural lighting or whatever lighting I had in my room at night. And honestly, I thought my videos were looking okay, but I knew they could look way better with some proper lighting.
So investing in lighting for my videos has been on my list for a while.
Also, you guys KNOW I live for my pink lights. 🎀 But sometimes I want a different color to match the vibe, you know? I can’t exactly do that with solid pink lights, so I decided to get some new room lighting that would give me options and help with the overall ambiance.
Apparently, I’m on a mission to upgrade my room one project at a time. 😂 I already tackled the clothing rack upgrade, and now we’re onto the lighting.
Here’s what I bought for my YouTube setup
LED Strip Lights 🎀
These have been on my wishlist for as long as I can remember.
Even before I started making YouTube videos.
I literally just wanted them because they looked so fun and cool. 😂 As usual, I know I’m late to the party, but we’re not gonna talk about that.
The intention behind getting these was basically added color, ambiance, vibes… you get me?

I want it to give Pinterest.
But before we move on to the next item, let me tell you how I actually got these. 😂
One Saturday, I’m out shopping with my boyfriend and his mom. We’re in the lighting aisle and I catch the LED strip lights on display.
So naturally, we get into a conversation about how I’ve always wanted some for my room.
His mom goes:
“I have some of these at home that I never used.”
I’m like:
“You have these EXACT lights that you DON’T use?? UNBOXED and everything??”
She’s standing there with this blank look on her face like, girl… that’s what I just said.
I said SAY LESS.
And then they were mine. 😶🌫️
So technically, I didn’t even have to buy these. 😂
I’m mostly excited about these for the ambiance and the pop of color they’re going to add to my room. And because they have different color options, I can switch things up depending on the mood.
Pink when I want my usual vibe.
Something completely different when I don’t.
We love options.
Butttt since we’re on the topic of ambiance and Pinterest…
To tie the vibes together, you know what else I got?
An LED floor lamp
Guys. Guys. Guys. Guys. 😂
This is such a cool aesthetic addition.
I’ve also had one of these on my wishlist, specifically for making videos, and I finally got one.
I did have to assemble it, but it wasn’t difficult at all. And the best part? It has nine color options along with a bunch of different modes and settings.

So in that case, I can program this to match the LED strip lights and have the entire room giving one SOLID vibe.
Super cool, I know. 😂
What makes this different from the LED strips — well, at least the ones I have — is that it gives off more of a glow, rather than just adding color.
And I think that’s going to be perfect for my videos.
I just need to figure out where I actually want to put it, but we’ll get there.
Maybe I can switch it around from time to time too depending on what I’m filming.
Okay, the final and probably the most important thing I got. 😂
A Flexible Desk Lamp
When I tell you I NEEDED THIS…
I’m talking DIRELY.
I film my beauty content at my vanity, and the lighting there is literally yellow.
I genuinely hate it.
So I had to hurry up and fix that.

Originally, I planned to get a light that could mount onto my camera, but while I was shopping around, I saw this flexible desk lamp and I was sold.
It was inexpensive.
It could get the job done.
That’s really all I need.
Trust me, this is already an upgrade from what I was using before.
Remember my miracle knots video/post?
I legit used my phone light to film parts of that.
Yes.
My PHONE FLASHLIGHT. 😭😭😭
So my reasoning for getting this was pretty solid, lol.
I do have a ring light as well, but because of how my vanity is situated, I can’t really use it the way I’d want to.
This flexible lamp gives me something a little more practical for my beauty content because I can position it exactly where I need the light.
And honestly, this one was kind of a random purchase because it wasn’t exactly on my original shopping list.
But sometimes the random finds are the best ones.
So… Which One Is My Favorite? 👀
If I had to choose a favorite, I’d go with the LED floor lamp.
Why?
The glow.
It gets me every time! 😭
There’s just something about having that soft glow in the background that makes a room feel so much cozier and, honestly, a lot more put together.
But I’m excited to see how all three pieces of lighting work together, especially when I’m filming.
Between the LED strip lights, the floor lamp and the flexible desk lamp, I should finally have some proper room lighting for videos instead of relying on the sun or, apparently, my phone flashlight. 😂
And yes, I’ll be sharing more about each item in my YouTube video, including how I set everything up and how the lighting actually looks on camera.
So subscribe to my channel if you haven’t already and stay tuned for that! 🎀✨
